International Sports Tax Association (ISTA) Launches to Raise Professional Standards in Sports Industry

London, UK 15 March 2023 – The International Sports Tax Association (ISTA) announced today its official launch, aimed at raising the standard of professional advice for the sports industry. ISTA will provide a platform for its members and associates to share their expertise, network with industry peers and clients, and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in sports tax.

ISTA’s Chair, Sofia Thomas CTA Fellow, commented: “We are thrilled to officially launch the International Sports Tax Association and continue building our global community around a shared commitment to excellence and innovation in sports tax.”

The official launch also sees the publication of the organisation’s first resource written by members, Tax Implications of the New FIFA Agent Regulations. The resource focuses on the tax impact of the player pays change in FFAR for the major European leagues including England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Membership is open to individuals who hold professional accreditations in tax and accounting or other complimentary professional services such as law, insurance or private banking. Experience working with clients in the sports industry is a prerequisite for joining, however ISTA will be offering professional development opportunities for those looking to move into the sports industry later this year.
