About Jorge
Tax Partner at Creel, García-Cuellar, Aiza y Enríquez. His practice specializes in corporate and international tax, with an emphasis on capital markets and financial products, cross-border structuring, M&A, and FATCA & CRS. Recognized in 2019 as “Best Tax Rising Star in Latin America” by Euromoney Legal Group. Author of several publications on tax issues, including works on the Mexico-Canada tax treaty with Michael N. Kandev and John J. Lennard, and on the Mexico-UK tax treaty with Jonathan Schwarz.
Active member of the IBA, the IFA, and the Business Advisory Group on FATCA & CRS of the OECD. He holds a law degree (JD) from Universidad Anáhuac Mayab and a master’s degree in Tax Law from Universidad Panamericana. Jorge worked for 10 years at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, where he held various positions, including Competent Authority for tax treaty interpretation. From 2013 to 2014, he was a consultant for the OECD, where he served as the principal draftsperson of the CRS.
